If you’re anything like us you’ll enjoy escaping the harsher winter weather that the Northern hemisphere suffers around about now by surfing the internet, looking at holiday brochures and property prospectuses and dreaming of living an exciting life in the sun! Personally we like to browse property sites and holiday brochures and dream about where in the world we could own a home in the sun or even a holiday property abroad.
One of the countries receiving considerable internet interest in 2007 is Turkey. It makes sense – after all Turkey is a nation that offers low cost coastal property stock enabling more buyers access to a home in the sun; and what’s more, property prices and interest are rising making property in Turkey an excellent investment choice as well as a perfect getaway in the sun. However, because Turkey is such a vast nation with just so much coastline, you need to known where to buy property in Turkey to get the most for your money and to fulfil your plans for your property abroad.
Western Mediterranean Property in Turkey
The most popular spots on the Western Med are Marmaris, Dalaman, Dalyan, Fethiye and Kalkan with the nearest airport to all resorts Dalaman which is serviced by the likes of BA, CTA, Turkish Airlines, Excel and Avro.
Each resort in this region is unique and offers a buyer a completely different feel and this particular area of Turkey is one receiving considerable investment into infrastructure and the development of the tourism industry making it a good investment location.
Dalaman is a town worthy of special mention…it was ignored for a long time by property buyers and thought of merely as the place where the airport is for accessibility to the rest of the Western Mediterranean region! But recently there has been significant and substantial talks and plans laid to turn Dalaman as well as the greater, surrounding region into a tourism hub.
This bodes very well for those who want the best return on investment from their property as they can buy now at low prices and hold for the medium term to hopefully gain a decent rise in the value of their home as well as an increase in the numbers of tourists who might like to rent it out for the summer.
The other resorts in the region vary from Marmaris which is one of the biggest and most exciting resorts in Turkey…great for those seeking sun, sea, sand, entertainment and nightlife. Or if you prefer a smaller resort why not consider either Dalyan or Kalkan?
Eastern Mediterranean Property in Turkey
The Eastern Mediterranean has as much charm and historic interest as the Western side but fewer resorts – the main ones are Side, Alanya and Antalya as well as Belek. The main airport for the region is Antalya which is serviced by Excel and Avro, CTA and Turkish Airlines to name but a few, and which receives a steady flow of cheap flights to Turkey during the long summer season making it very accessible – an important consideration when buying a property abroad.
One of the most popular areas among those looking at buying property in Turkey is around Antalya and Belek – you have the nightlife and holiday atmosphere of sun, sea and sand that’s synonymous with Antalya as well as great shopping and dining with the golf course of Belek within easy reach…therefore this is a great location for a holiday home for those who want plenty of entertainment options as well as a fantastically in demand property in terms of tourism rental demand.
Side is a good family resort, it has a slower pace of life associated with it and an abundance of natural attributes such as beautiful coastline and beaches making it a very popular holiday spot with those who want to explore Turkey at their pace. The only downside with Side is that it is quite quiet in the winter season, but at the moment most resorts in Turkey are because while the summer season runs from about April to October, in the winter the temperatures drop and the rain falls!
Alanya is the other favourite in the region and property in Alanya in Turkey is hotly in demand among local buyers from the likes of Istanbul who are now competing with international investors and those in search of their ideal home in the sun!
Alanya is a really good place to move to if you’re thinking of living in Turkey as it is a town in its own right as well as a tourism resort meaning that there is life in the location all year round as well as the lifestyle amenities and services we all need from supermarkets and cinemas to doctors and dentists and there are jobs available other than just in the tourism industry.
