Where to Buy Property on the Costa Blanca in SpainThe Costa Blanca is one of the most popular regions in Spain with foreign retirees and also holidaymakers – and despite recent talk of a downturn in the region’s property market in terms of both movement and price growth, the beauty of the Costa Blanca and the stunning climate of the region means that there is still intense demand for property for sale.

If you’re looking for an area of Spain to buy real estate in and you want an area that never seems to go out of favour with expats or holiday makers, then consider the Costa Blanca, and if you want to know where to buy property in the Costa Blanca in Spain, read on…

Costa Blanca literally translates to ‘white coast’ - and the name is appropriate because of the region’s beautiful pale sandy beaches and the quality of light enjoyed particularly in the summer time.  And the summer time in this part of Spain is very long, in fact, the climate in this eastern region of Spain is one of the most attractive in Europe and, according to the World Health Organization, one of the most healthy in the world.  With average summer time highs reaching the upper 30 degrees centigrade and the winter time temperatures never dipping below double figures, the climate in the Costa Blanca is a real draw.

If you want to buy a property for rental to tourists you might prefer the southern edge of the Costa Blanca because this remains temperate and attractive in terms of weather patterns for slightly longer than the north of the region.  There again, if you’re considering buying property in Spain to live in and enjoy, you might prefer northern Costa Blanca because the winter time rains do freshen and provide essential water for the garden!

In terms of where exactly to buy Spanish property on the Costa Blanca if you’re looking for the greatest tourism traffic for an investment property – think about Altea, Calpe, Denia, Gandia, Javea, Moraira and Torrevieja, Benidorm and even Mar Menor, (although those living in Spain and very knowledgeable about the nation will be quick to point out that Mar Menor is actually on the Costa Calida!).  All are extremely popular locations with international tourists.  Consider apartment based properties within a complex offering shared facilities if you want to get the balance right between maximum demand for the property to rent it, a more affordable price and also the greatest likelihood that you will be able to resell it.

And if you’re thinking about buying a property in Spain purely for your own use – whether as a new home, a retirement property or a holiday home – you will get more for your money if you head in land a little.  There are some stunning villages if you step off the beaten track a little and move away from the coast.  Think about Benitachell, Orba, Tormos and Orbeta as starting points for your exploration.

You might also want to consider moving away from apartment or villa based living and look for a town house with character or even a finca or rural property with land.  Now is a great time to be looking for property for sale in Spain because there has been a down turn in interest and therefore it is a buyer’s market.  Remember to negotiate hard and always ensure your estate agent is registered and that your lawyer is independent and on your side.
