The Attraction of Belize for Holiday Home HuntersBelize has been popular with Northern American holiday and retirement home hunters for many years, but slowly their closely guarded secret is getting out and word about the attraction of this stunning nation is spreading like wildfire.

This article looks at the attraction of Belize for holiday home hunters in particular, but it also highlights the unique qualities that Belize has for anyone in search of an affordable, beautiful, unspoiled retreat.

Belize is a small but perfectly formed country!  It’s a nation a little larger than Wales in terms of square miles but it has a tiny population of just over a quarter of a million people, it is home to the Jaguar, it has the longest complete barrier reef in the world, its white sandy beaches are caressed by the warm, clear waters of the romantic Caribbean Sea and in Belize there are rain forests, Mayan ruins and everyone speaks English!

Previously the reason that Belize was lesser explored by all but the most adventurous Northern Americans was because of its relative inaccessibility – but in recent years the situation has changed and there are regular, daily, non-stop flights to Belize’s Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport in Ladyville north of Belize City from Houston, Dallas and Miami for example, and many other flights reach Belize via Mexico and El Salvador.

The growing popularity of the nation with travellers from Europe has also led to an expansion in the number of specialist tour operators offering various holidays and packages to Belize and from a holiday home hunter’s perspective the broadening of appeal of the country could well result in a broadening and developing of travel options.

Once in Belize I defy anyone not to fall in love with a country where you can have adventures straight out of a story book!  You can dive and snorkel, walk miles and miles of remote beaches, explore the jungle, come face to face with incredibly rare flora and fauna and you can eat and drink and party the night away to your heart’s content.

Belize is a perfect holiday hideaway because the pace of life is so laid back, the people are so courteous and welcoming, the climate (in the dry season!) is perfect and there is just so much to do, see, sample and experience that you will never get bored and will always want to come back and enjoy more.  These facts are leading to a growing number of British, Irish and European buyers finding a small holiday home to buy in Belize which they may one day retire to or rent out or sell for a profit or income to fund retirement.

Property prices in most parts of Belize remain incredibly affordable – only on the most popular cayes or in the best districts of Belize City do prices become a little restrictive.  Anyone hunting for their perfect Caribbean paradise home today could consider a small wooden home on a 1/2 acre plot of land that’s planted with many fruit trees that’s currently on the market for just USD 17,000, a one bedroom, brand new beach front villa for sale from USD 50,000 at a new development in Ambergris Caye or a luxury condominium on a five star development from USD 310,000.  The choice of property in Belize is broad and a holiday home hunter will not be restricted when it comes to choice.
