Summary: An introduction to stunning Spanish golf property available for sale as well as the best golf courses in Spain

Spanish Golf PropertyWhen you think of Spain what springs to mind? Is it the sunshine, the sandy beaches, maybe it’s flamenco or bullfighting, perhaps it’s the fantastic food or the delicious wines?  Or for you, are your thoughts of Spain as they are for an increasing number of people all about Spanish golf property and golfing in Spain?

Golf, already massively popular in Portugal, is becoming one of Spain’s main attractions - it is relatively new in the great scheme of things, but its recent marriage with Spain has been a remarkable one and the demands for Spanish golf property, golf holidays and golf club membership are showing little signs of slowing down.

Most of the golfing action in Spain takes place all along the coastline - although inland golf courses within a reasonable distance of the Costas are also popular of course.

Besides the quality and challenges of a particular course, obviously another factor to consider is the on-course property.  Nowadays no golf course is developed without attractive real estate, and many golfing and residential resorts also include features such as restaurants, bars, cafes, retail centres, swimming pools and additional sporting facilities.

Few properties and golf club memberships in Spain come cheaply though!

At the western end of the Costa del Sol is the Ryder Cup course Valderrama at San Roque, here there is a limited re-sale market as with many of the older courses because residents are firmly put!  But where Spanish golf properties are available for sale they are on exclusive developments with prices starting from GBP 250,000 just for a two bedroom apartment – and this is before you add on any course fees which can also be expensive!

Further west there is a massive golf development within the Huelva province - Costa Esuri Andalucian Village near Ayamonte has a great setting just five minutes from the beach.  Twin 18 hole golf courses are part of a complex which includes three luxury hotels, a large shopping centre, a sports area, cinema, swimming pools and restaurants.  This is far more affordable golfing and far more affordable Spanish golf property too with prices for a two bedroom apartment starting from just GBP 110,000.

At Desert Springs in Cuevas de Almanzora you’ll find Europe’s first desert golf resort which now has a second 18 hole course - prices are on the rise here as the resort’s popularity and profile increase - apartments start from around GBP 160,000 currently.

An alternative location with those seeking Spanish property accessible to decent golf facilities is in the north east of Spain close to Barcelona.  Here the weather can be cooler in the winter so there are fewer property investment purchasers – rather the emphasis is on the lifestyle buyers.  If this sounds like you then there is an excellent golf complex at Sant Vicenc de Montalt 20 miles north of Barcelona.

Or are you reading this article and thinking - “oh no! I’m already a golf widow” – well don’t worry because even if you don’t like golf, to purchase a property in Spain at one of these amenities where there is a safe environment with plenty for children to do, plenty for you to enjoy and a long summer season, you would have a lovely holiday home and most likely see a long term, decent return on your property investment choice.
