The Canadian province of Alberta has begun an aggressive campaign in Europe to raise its profile as one of the best areas for skiing in Canada and as a result it is predicted that British tourism numbers alone will increase by fifty percent within the next two years.
Naturally enough this is already pushing up the demand for ski property for sale in Canada as such properties represent a fantastic investment opportunity. Alberta has become one of Canada’s most prosperous provinces on the back of its booming tourism and property economy and if you’re interested in an investment property with great prospects here’s our guide to the ski property for sale in Canada.
Jasper and Banff are the main ski resorts in Alberta but they have very tight restrictions on who can own property in the towns and how much commercial and residential property development can be done annually. Those who wish to own property in either resort have to be residents of the town and/or have employment in the town in which they hope to buy.
Naturally this restricts the appeal of either resort as far as investors looking for investment property for sale in Canada are concerned - but then because both Banff and Jasper have seen and are continuing to witness an increasing influx of America, British, Japanese and German tourists for example, property investors are hunting around the greater Alberta province for alternative areas for ski property investment.
Property development projects such as the Windtower (pictured) near Canmore in Banff National Park is the perfect example of a new breed of ski property for sale in Canada’s Alberta province. Windtower is a development of hotel resort style suites and condominiums for sale and rent to investors and ski, hiking and golfing enthusiasts who flock to the Banff National Park, Bow Valley Park and Kananaskis Provincial Park every year.
The Windtower development offers a wide choice of properties for sale from compact suites to stunningly luxurious apartments and previous purchasers are a blend of owner occupiers, holiday home seekers and investors who use the onsite management team to rent out their property year round for strong rental returns.
The developers of the Windtower have based their development on similar projects that have proved universally popular in resorts such Whistler where the Hilton Whistler Resort, the Expedition Station and The Winchester are all similar property/resort type developments.
Similar developments in Quebec and British Columbia have also proved profitable and popular. Because of the unrivalled and universal success of such resort style property projects across the rest of Canada it’s likely that the Windtower will be the first of a new breed of ski property for sale in Canada’s emerging and booming Alberta market.
