Property Investment in Cordoba in Spain

Property Investment in Cordoba in SpainWith the recent buzz about new and emerging property investment locations and resort developments in Morocco, Bulgaria and Croatia for example, it would seem that of late the Spanish landscape has been overlooked.  While it’s true that the Costas are crowded already and Barcelona also has its fair share of investors and expatriates living within its boundaries, there are still plenty of other options in Spain to explore.  The interior cities offer a different flavour of Spain, and quite often more affordable prices as well - Cordoba is one such city.

Located in southern Spain and roughly two hours from the most well known and popular beaches, Cordoba is worth a closer look if finding an investment property, holiday home or even full-time residence in Spain is what you desire.  Although you won’t be able to open your windows to take in the sights of the Mediterranean, this ancient city offers some incredible views and a different pace of life - so in this article we’ll be looking at property investments in Cordoba in Spain.

The city of Cordoba is found on the banks of the Guadalquivir River and enjoys spectacular mountain scenery thanks to the Sierra Morena.  With only a little more than 300,000 inhabitants within its boundaries, the city is not the most jam-packed in Europe by any means which allows you to get to know the city quickly and well.

Property purchases in Cordoba are often driven by those looking to tap into the increasing tourism trade or even people just looking to make Spain their home.  If you’re interested in either approach to Spanish property then Cordoba offers you some spectacular real estate to choose from.  And what’s more, the city offers some of the southern region’s most interesting history and ancient historical sites to explore as well.  And remember, the historic and cultural significance of Cordoba makes it a very popular tourist attraction which is great news for would be property investors!

Founded initially by the Romans, Cordoba soon became a very important city in world politics and religion.  Its history is dotted with a variety of different inhabitants, with Jews, Christians and Muslims all calling it home at certain points in time.  And in fact, in the 10th century it is believed Cordoba was among the world’s largest cities and it once served as the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate, showing its importance to the Muslim world.

Evidence of the city’s importance throughout time remains widely visible.  If you move to Cordoba or simply choose to visit, you’re likely to find Cordoba is considered one of the best-preserved ancient cities in Europe making it all the more appealing in terms of the properties available for sale.

Cordoba is even a candidate for the European Capital of Culture for 2016, it is home to a number of historic mosques, churches, buildings and other sites that keep visitors coming too – and the Mezquita-Cathedral which boasts almost 1,000 columns is one of Cordoba’s most famous buildings.

While living in Cordoba is a little different than starting a new life in the popular Spanish coastal regions, property investors will find Cordoba continues to please tourists and boasts a truly international appeal meaning there is a broader base of potential rental client to target with well located real estate stock.  With its architecture and cultural sites, Cordoba has not gone out of vogue at all.  Buyers will find the region offers a lot of options, from apartments within the Andalucian city proper to villas in the surrounding countryside - there are plenty of Spanish properties to choose from.

Before settling on property in Cordoba or any other city in Spain for that matter, it is wise to take a trip to view the area you’re interested in - hiring good legal representation fluent in Spanish and English is also essential.

Although Cordoba doesn’t offer the Mediterranean views of other Andalucian cities, it has a distinct appeal that keeps visitors coming.  Its continued historic importance and cultural recognition also makes it a fairly sound property investment location as a result.  So, if you’re looking for a different taste of Spain other than that which the beaches of the Costas provide, Cordoba is well worth a closer look.
