Efforts to correct the misinformed general opinions widely circulated by certain immature media sources relating to the legality or otherwise of property ownership in Northern Cyprus are slowly starting to take effect.
It seems that the general public are hungry for facts rather than speculation and are starting to search more deeply for the reality behind the generalisation that North Cyprus is an ‘illegal state’ and that therefore all properties in North Cyprus are illegal to own. As a direct result, thankfully the property market in TRNC is seeing a resurgence - yet properties in North Cyprus remain competitive which only serves to further boost the attraction and appeal of the market.
It is an absolute mistruth that all properties for sale on the Northern third of this stunning Mediterranean island are being illegally bought and sold, rather there are a range of different title deeds in the TRNC that need to be understood and respected. By taking the time to understand both the unique but stable political situation on the island and the fact that certain types of title deed in North Cyprus are internationally recognised the general public have been coming back to North Cyprus for a second look.
2005 started out as a bad year for both the tourism and real estate sectors on both sides of the island as certain media sources took it upon themselves to present a biased and simply incorrect view of Cyprus. Each report in turn simply restated and reprinted that which had been said before; not one source took the time to research their facts and uncover the truth.
Since then campaigners and independent publishers have been working flat out to bring the truth about Northern Cyprus to the attention of the world’s media and also to the wider and interested general public - and their efforts have been paying dividends. This August North Cyprus has seen its hotel beds filled, its unspoilt beaches populated and its many restaurants filling up - while the property sector in TRNC has been working flat out to meet the demands of the general public for investment properties, retirement homes and brand new residential units.
In the Cyprus Today newspaper real estate agents and property developers in North Cyprus have been advertising for new staff and the general consensus of opinion in the market is that properties in North Cyprus have never been so in demand. Earlier in the year developers were introduced to the fact that property markets can be fickle and that sustained growth must be built on quality, attention to detail and complete customer satisfaction. This has been a brilliant awakening for the real estate sector in TRNC as it will ensure that standards remain high, resulting in competition to supply the best product and the best service at the best price meaning that properties in North Cyprus will remain competitive for the foreseeable future.
Investor demand is intensifying and yet there has never been a better time to buy as developers have given up trying to turn a fast profit, rather they are now in it for the long haul and are seeking to offer the investor, purchaser and new resident fantastic quality, customer service and value for money.
