Buying Property in Bulgaria Popular With Young BritsBulgaria’s quaint ski resorts, Black Sea developments and unique cities are all calling to expatriates in a very big way.  With very reasonable prices, a low cost of living and some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world, buying property in Bulgaria is very hot among Brits.  This goes doubly so for young Brits.

If you’re considered buying property in Bulgaria to live in full-time, to use as a holiday home or to let out to holidaymakers, there is a reasonably good chance you’ll find your neighbour is a 20- to 35-year-old Briton.  In this article, we’ll explore this unique buying trend in Bulgaria and why this particular European Union country is so appealing to younger British buyers in particular.

According to Quest Bulgaria, about a third of the properties on the market in Bulgaria are being purchased by foreigners.  With buy-in prices that are incredibly low, a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of natural attractions, Bulgaria is indeed a popular international investment spot.  Of that third however, a large percentage of buyers fall in the younger age category of 20 to 35 years.  The increase over the last two years is about 10% and they represent about 20% of all Brits buying property in Bulgaria.

So, why all the fuss about Bulgaria?  What is making this particular country so popular with expats?

For young buyers, it often comes down to economics.  Whilst prices here have been on the rise, they are nowhere near British pricing standards.  What costs a Brit more than GBP 200,000 to buy at home often costs under GBP 60,000 in Bulgaria.  A young family that might have never been able to afford a detached home of their own in the UK can enjoy what amounts to a dream come true in Bulgaria.  As long as a young person has the means to earn an income in Bulgaria, the potential opportunities to enjoy a high standard of living are extremely attractive.

As Bulgaria’s resorts, cities and even smaller towns increase their infrastructure and telecommuting becomes more possible, many younger Brits are finding they can still earn incomes here.  Internet-based businesses are more than feasible as many cities boast broadband capabilities.  Those who are not telecommuting are often taking advantage of other earning possibilities.  For example, many young Brits are moving their entire families and opening up their own businesses in Bulgaria.

Brits who are moving to Bulgaria permanently are citing a number of reasons for prompting their moves.  Many say the taxes, crime and overall prices to maintain a decent standard of living drove them to Bulgaria’s shores.

Bulgaria has been a popular investment spot for foreign buyers for quite some time.  Now, it is becoming an even more favoured permanent relocation destination.  As more foreigners discover the potential and beauty of Bulgaria, buyers here can expect to see more, and younger, countrymen whilst visiting or living in Bulgaria.
