Why You Should Buy Property in Barcelona

Why You Should Buy Property in BarcelonaTo many people Barcelona is quite possibly the most vibrant, exciting and architecturally intriguing city in Europe; add to this the fact that there are amazing bars and restaurants on almost every street corner, the shopping and culture in Barcelona are exceptionally good and that there is just so much to do and see in and around the city and it is of no surprise that this is one of the most in demand locations for local and international property hunters in Spain.

Home ownership levels in Barcelona are very high indeed and property prices are also extremely on the high side as well…but there are still many, many reasons why you should buy property in Barcelona and in this article we explore those reasons for you!

For one thing, if you’re looking for a property in Spain and you buy a property in Barcelona you’ll always be able to easily let it or resell it!  This is a bonus for investors who may otherwise be put off by the high price tag that the city wears with some pride!

Although as stated home ownership in Barcelona is high, there are very many students, very many visitors, a lot of people who relocate to the city annually who cannot afford to or are not in a position to buy immediately and then there’s the chance to corporate let as well…so yes, rental is easy and rental yields can be seriously attractive.

The resale market in Barcelona is also very buoyant at the moment and it has not been affected by the slowdown that other parts of Spain have seen – what’s more, it is unlikely to do so just because of the immense and broad spectrum of appeal that Barcelona has.

Other reasons to buy property in Barcelona include the fact that the city is so easily accessible to all other capitals in Europe meaning that it is a great place to base yourself in and weekly commute.  For those looking to include some hours working from home within their current employment role where better to live whilst working from home?  And for anyone interested in living in an incredibly vibrant and exciting city and having easy and direct access to the Mediterranean Sea as well – i.e., having the very best of both worlds – Barcelona is the very best location possible in which to buy property.

The heart of the city is of course the most expensive area to buy property in…but fear not, the fact that Barcelona recently had an Olympics means that the city’s transport infrastructure is exceptional so you can live anywhere across the city or in the suburbs and still be within easy reach of the museums, the sea, the office, the galleries, the cafes and restaurants, the shops or even the gothic quarter for example.

In terms of where to buy property – well, that all depends on what you want in a home, what your budget can afford to buy you and also, which areas you personally feel an affinity with but Hospitalet de Llobregat is considered to be an up and coming area where property is more affordable but likely to see increases over the medium term whilst Diagonal Mar is an area newly developed with a good range of properties and prices but perhaps an area with less of the Barcelona charm?
