The popularity of Bulgaria as a winter holiday and sport destination has boomed and as a direct result there is an intensification of interest and investment in Bulgaria ski properties for sale either off plan or resale.  This article offers an overview of ski properties for sale in Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo.

Bansko

The small resort town of Bansko is located 160km south of Sofia near the river Glazane.  It is the number one ski resort in Bulgaria and probably the most popular winter sports resort for experienced and advanced skiers in the entire region.  It has the longest ski season in Bulgaria and accommodation in the area is usually booked out from December to May making investment property in the area very attractive.

Bansko is situated among the Pirin, Rila and Rhodope Mountains 925 meters above sea level and not only boasts fantastic ski pistes but unrivalled and incredible views as well.

In the past two years Bansko has benefited from inward investment in the region of EUR 400 million and this has boosted the appeal and the attraction of the town with the development of luxury hotels, spas, holiday villages and other facilities.

In terms of the ski properties for sale in and around Bansko, the most popular are those located around the lower end of the gondola lift and prices in the town start from around EUR 36,000 for a one bedroom apartment and go up to EUR 500,000 for a small hotel.

Borovets

Borovets is closer to Sofia than Bansko, it is just 72km away and the resort is easily accessible.  It is the oldest of Bulgaria’s winter sport resorts and also the largest and most modern; although with the amount of investment going into Bansko it may lose this crown soon.

The winter season lasts from December to April and accommodation during this period is hugely in demand which has led to a number of developers offering off-plan properties for sale in Borovets with guaranteed rental yield for a fixed period of between three and five years.

Borovets is more popular with the entire family, and also with all levels of skier from complete beginners to very advanced.  There is plenty of choice when it comes to the winter sports available as well which adds to the overall desirability of the location - you have skiing and night skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing as well as ski jumps and ice-skating all available.

Ski properties for sale in Borovets start from around EUR 40,000 for studio apartments and go up to EUR 152,000 for a four bedroom family home with panoramic views and extensive gardens.

Pamporovo

This resort is the furthest from Sofia at 240km away and it is also the most southerly winter sports resort in the whole of Europe and it enjoys incredible sunshine throughout the year which, when coupled with the beautiful snowy peaks, makes this one of the most attractive resorts in Bulgaria.

Pamporovo is set right in the midst of the Rhodopi Mountains which have a very gentle aspect making the pistes ideal for winter sport beginners and intermediaries.  The ski runs in the area are very well maintained and there are always a lot of instructors about keeping a close eye on all skiers and maintaining their safety making this a family favourite resort.

The types of property for sale in Pamporovo range from apartments to villas and prices start from EUR 50,000 for a two bedroom house or EUR 54,000 for a brand new apartment close to the ski lifts and go up to EUR 300,000 for a hotel.  In general new build properties sell for an average of EUR 800 per square meter.
