Explore Bansko When Buying Property in BulgariaDespite the fact that us Brits have taken to the Bulgarian property market like a duck to water, the Bulgarian property market is one that a lot of other international citizens don’t know too much about yet.  Although its market is still developing, this country of magical mountains and beautiful Black Sea coastline is still on a major upswing.

Since it joined the European Union in early 2007, interest in Bulgaria is on the rise.  So, too is the desire of many Britons and others to buy property in Bulgaria.  While many investors and immigrants choose the more balmy climes associated with property along the coastline, winter sports fans are finding Bansko is to their liking…which means it appeals to investors too – so why not explore Bankso when buying property in Bulgaria and see if it meets your requirements for real estate.

This up-and-coming ski resort town has lots of new construction projects underway, but don’t let the newness of everything you see fool you.  There’s some serious history to be found within Bansko, this town of about 9,000 people is found at the foot of the Pirin Mountains in southwest Bulgaria and has been inhabited for centuries.  Furthermore, with the amount of serious and sustained investment Bankso is witnessing now, it is perfectly placed to become a world-class winter resort in due course.

Bansko’s well researched history dates back to Roman times – but archaeological evidence shows this area’s history dates back to the time before Christ; there are ruins on the town’s outer limits that date to 100 B.C. for example.  The mountain town was long considered a part of the Ottoman Empire but found itself at home within Bulgaria’s borders following the First Balkan War in 1912.

Today, the area around Bansko is considered an important cultural centre for the region.  Between its historical monuments and its incredible tourism draws, Bansko is becoming more recognised as a worldwide travel destination.  Beyond the ski resort and fantastic après ski fun, Bansko offers visitors and residents summertime sports including mountain biking, golfing and hiking, and its spas are becoming quite noteworthy too.

Investors, would be expatriates and visitors to Bansko today will find a beautiful blending of the old and new.  The area’s real estate market is alive with new resort projects including several high rises - and many of these residential resort developments come with fantastic amenities and facilities included.  The old town itself provides for some incredibly quaint images, where stone-faced buildings with flower-box windows greet visitors.  For investors who would prefer a more private setting, Bansko’s single-family home market is also hot.

It is more than feasible to find freestanding homes for under EUR 90,000 and apartment prices start from much lower.  The property prices in Bansko are therefore considered very reasonable compared to many of the other rising investment markets in the world, and because the market is still on the upswing, those who buy in now have a chance to enjoy a return on their investment in the form of good capital appreciation.

It seems that now is the time to get in while the getting is still good.  Bansko is considered Bulgaria’s “most expensive” region – but really, that’s not saying much, it is still largely affordable for the time being.  If you’re interested in property in Bulgaria, explore Bankso.

While the history draws in some investors, the ski area is what’s really drawing international and sustained attention to Bansko.  Since the millennium the Bansko resort area has been deemed a fully modernised facility.  The ski season here runs from mid-December into the middle of May.

With more than 100 cultural monuments, a host of museums and some of the world’s most beautiful scenery, Bansko is a resort area on the rise.  With its incredible blending of old-meets-new and its fantastic prospects for high wintertime adventure, it’s no wonder Bansko is becoming so popular.
