So, now more than ever you may be in need of some extra encouragement when it comes to thinking about buying a property abroad.

Trying Times Again for Turkish Property
Published on 19 June 2008
Well, the Turkish government has done it again – they have put the breaks on the property market in Turkey right at the start of the summer season when prices and interest levels were both expected to rise. Because of a hold up in a law change, no title deeds are being issued to foreign purchasers and those who bought last year and expect to take full possession and complete legal ownership of their properties this summer are being prevented from doing so.
Naturally this is causing waves of panic to surge through the industry – no matter what smiling estate agents may say to the contrary. It’s not that any of them are worried the law change won’t go ahead, it’s that they are concerned this hurdle will be one too many in the way of rare and valued buyers and that they will head elsewhere. Trying times again for Turkish property then…which is a real shame.

Buying Property in Turkey Ban Lifted
Published on 08 May 2008
The Turkish government has announced the end of a temporary suspension on the issuing of title deeds to foreign buyers. Brought into force on 15th April by order of the country’s Constitutional Court while parts of the legislation relating to foreign buyers were re-drafted, a parliamentary commission has passed the changes and the freeze will end in the next 2-3 weeks.
“The changes will have no effect on most foreign buyers and relate to the amount of land foreigners are entitled to buy,” explains Dominic Whiting, editor of the Buying in Turkey guide.

With the world’s media more interested in Cuba and Kosovo, the shock defeat of Tassos Papadopoulos on Sunday in the Republic of Cyprus elections has gone largely unnoticed by many. And yet the defeat of one of the key European opponents to Turkey joining the EU could have a significant and immediate effect on Turkey’s property market for example.

Well, it bodes exceptionally well for the long-term, healthy development of an affluent and sustainable real estate sector in which many may probably now invest.
New Property Developments in Turkey
Published on 08 January 2008
According to a recent article in The Observer newspaper, some 17,000 Brits have chosen Turkey as their overseas nation of choice when it comes to buying a property abroad. These 17,000 have focused on the Southern Turkish coastline which hugs the Mediterranean and the Aegean Seas because they know they can enjoy long sunny days from April to November and also enjoy a nation that is rapidly advancing in terms of its appeal.
To service these home buyers and the increasing number of tourism arrivals, new flight operators are joining the ranks and there has been a sharp increase in both the frequency and number of flights to Turkey’s Riviera from Europe and the UK since 2006. New property developments in Turkey are also stepping up to offer the canny consumer something better in the way of both choice and quality, and one of the developers working particularly hard to break the fairly tired Spanish villa mold is the Braemore Gemini partnership from Nottingham who are developing innovative and attractive property in the Bodrum region.
