Summary: In the second part of the "where in the world" series we look at the population and immigration considerations you might like to research when thinking about you perfect overseas country.

Immigration policy

Does your preferred country have an active immigration policy?  Are you likely to be granted a visa or residence permit in the country you are hoping to move to?  Or are you free to move to that country with no need to apply for residence or a visa?

If the country you are moving to has a very restrictive immigration policy and you stand a chance of missing out, do you have an alternative ideal destination that you could consider alongside the original? 

Do you have a back up plan?  Do you need a back up plan?  What do you need to put in place now to ensure that you get to move to your dream new country abroad unhindered by political red tape and paperwork?
