Significant Increase in Brits Emigrating to AustraliaThere has been a significant increase in the numbers of Brits emigrating to Australia according to the latest figures, statistics and reports to be issued…and frankly we’re not surprised.

Whilst Australia is not exactly weathering the recession storm entirely unscathed, it does have more positive factors supporting its move away from economic crisis – and what’s more, the lifestyle, the climate and even the employment landscape are far more positive than those facing Britons who remain in the UK.

If you’re thinking about getting away from it all we’d advise you to make your application for a visa as soon as possible, otherwise yours might be lost under the deluge of applications from Brits and Irish too.  And with the Opportunities Australia expo coming up in London and in Leeds in March, now could be the perfect time for you to take the first decisive steps towards your new life in Australia.

The celebrity Irish financial adviser Eddie Hobbs was recently reported to have told a group of Irish graduates that if his daughter was in their shoes he’d tell her to emigrate to Australia!  He explained that the Irish economy is in a dire state and unlikely to improve in the near-term, and that in the meantime countries like Australia with their affluent energy sectors and long-term economic prospects pose a far better opportunity to professional persons seeking gainful employment.

His advice has clearly not gone unheeded, because according to the Irish Herald newspaper, some 30,000 Irish citizens are planning on emigrating to Australia this year, with the majority of applicants being families seeking a new and better life abroad.  The figures quoted in the newspaper article were provided by migrationabroad.com, and they are based on the company’s findings relating to the rise in the number of applications they are handling.

Where the Irish are leading the British are certainly following.  Both the Telegraph and Independent newspapers had leading stories this month about the numbers of British citizens applying for visas to relocate specifically to Australia and Canada.  The Independent ran with figures supplied by immigration specialists GlobalVisas and the Telegraph cited the Move Monitor survey by Pickfords.  Both sets of figures and statistics show that there is a very strong desire amongst British citizens to escape the failing economy in Great Britain and go in search of a new and better life in a country like Australia where they are not only in demand for their skills, but where there is plenty of space, where the lifestyle is fantastic, the weather is idyllic and the prospects are good.

If you’re wondering about relocation we’d urge you to consider visiting the Opportunities Australia expo events coming up in Leeds and London in March.  The events allow potential émigrés the chance to meet with keen employers and to attend workshops about relocating for example.  Such an event will not only arm you with the knowledge you need to make a more informed choice about whether or not Australia is right for you and your family, but it could give you the chance to secure a job offer and get a sponsored visa for faster relocation too.
