New Zealand Best Place in the World for ExpatsIf you want the best standard of living for the most affordable price, it seems that New Zealand is the best place in the world for expats

Whilst this may seem like quite a bold claim, it is a claim supported by the findings of a survey conducted by the Alliance and Leicester into where expatriate Britons actually love living.

According to the survey, New Zealand ranked number one for those concerned more about the cost of living and it ranked number one with those more concerned about the quality of life they can enjoy abroad.  Therefore, if you want to know where to hide from the UK recession, perhaps you should set your sights on New Zealand.

The survey by the Alliance and Leicester took into account many aspects of an expatriate’s life – from the rate of tax they will be subjected to, to the number of sunny days they can enjoy.  Whilst some countries such as Spain fared better than New Zealand in certain categories such as weather, the nation still managed to come out totally top of the charts for expatriates.  And seeing as how the survey conducted asked expatriates already living abroad in the nations in question about the life they enjoy there, it’s fair to assume that those who have made the massive move down under as far as New Zealand are very happy that they have done so.  This should give massive confidence to those thinking of doing the same.

The low price of property in the country as well as the relatively affordable costs of food, drink and even petrol meant that, coupled with a relatively favourable taxation regime, New Zealand was the most favoured nation with those expatriate Britons who were driven overseas or who preferred to remain living abroad specifically to benefit from and enjoy an attractive cost of living.

When it came to questions about the quality of life achievable, New Zealand also faired well with those who looked at aspects of a country such as its crime figures, the average working hours for an employed person, the number of days holiday enjoyed annually and the standard of living achievable on an average budget.  So, overall New Zealand comes out on top and is a nation where a good standard of living can be achieved for a fair price.  Therefore, if this sounds like the type of life you want to benefit from and you’re concerned that the UK won’t supply it, begin investigating living in New Zealand for you and your family perhaps?
