Creating a new life in Spain is something many people dream of.
If you are considering making the move you are certainly not alone, Spain has about 1.5 million foreign residents already in situ.
When you think about why so many people are moving to Spain it is easy to come up with a list like this: -

- It is geographically stunning with the breathtaking mountains of the Sierra Nevada and the Pyrenees and the dazzling coast lines, beaches and islands that make up the kingdom of Spain.
- It has an incredibly rich past resulting in awesome monuments and museums filled with treasures from the Museo del Prado in Madrid to the Alhambra in Granada for example.
- It has many culturally rich and diverse cities and the Spanish generally have a modern yet laid back and fascinating attitude to life.
You can see that simply put - Spain has an awful lot going for it!
The 60 million tourists that visit Spain each year and the 1.5 million foreign residents living in Spain and who have made Spain home certainly all agree!
Surviving a Move to Spain!
If you are moving to Spain you will find that the Spanish are incredibly welcoming and tolerant of their foreign residents and will generally go out of their way to help you settle into your new home country.
As with any relocation though, ‘things’ will invariably be ‘done differently’ in Spain compared to how you are used to them being done ‘back home’ - this can make life in the new country frustrating and baffling at times.
Retain both a sense of humour and a sense of perspective and the ‘manana’ attitude coupled with the red tape will be overcome eventually and you can enjoy Spain and all Spain has to offer.
