Moving to AustraliaMoving to Australia is an enormous undertaking, but one that many are prepared to make.

Is it something you’re considering?

Australia has so much to offer that it is one of the most attractive destinations in the world for expatriates and retiree escapees!

Australia is noted for many things, but most of all it is noted for its excellent quality of life, and Australian’s are noted for many things, but most of all they are noted for their friendly, laid back, welcoming nature.  Therefore if you are considering moving to Australia - either permanently for work or retirement, or for a set period of time to study or travel maybe, you are not alone!

All travellers, except New Zealand citizens, must obtain a visa or travel authority before travelling to Australia though - a visa will be a stamp or a label in your passport; a travel authority is an electronic record authorising travel to Australia.

If you wish to remain in Australia on a more permanent basis you will need to apply for a permanent visa.  There are over 100 types of visa to choose from depending on why you wish to move to Australia - there are visas for a skilled person, a business person, a spouse, a refugee etc., etc.

As the process is quite complex (!) there are many organisations out there who are happy to guide you through the process.

Moving with your personal possessions can be a costly exercise - unless you live nearby!  And the cheapest method is also the slowest - namely shipping containers.  Be realistic about what you want and need to take with you and also set aside money and time to plan how you can live for the period without your personal possessions!

Finding work in Australia if you are a skilled person shouldn’t present too much difficulty as Australia is interested in allowing skilled professionals into the country.
