Living in Spain: SevilleSeville in Andalucia is one of the most thrilling cities in Spain and it is certainly the jewel of the Andalucia region.

It is a party city home to the famous Semana Santa Easter processions and the fantastic Feria de Abril or April fair.  It is also chic, relaxed, fun loving and vibrant and anyone who wants to live in Spain and experience the very best of this country should consider living in Seville.

Living in Spain in Seville especially suits those looking to live and work in Spain because this is a young and vibrant city full of professionals and business people who like to work hard and play hard.  For those who don’t have a strong command of Spanish there are still avenues open to explore such as teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) or working in a tourism related business for example.

Job vacancies can be sought online or in local newspapers although many casual vacancies are ‘advertised’ via word of mouth and it’s far easier to get a job in Seville once you’re living and socialising in the city!

Those considering moving to Seville with family including children have a number of options to consider when it comes to schooling.  There are English schools on the Costa del Sol for example or the American Cooperative School of Seville and there are also a few bilingual schools in the city that teach children in a combination of Spanish and English.  The Highlands School and St. Francisco de Paula School are two examples and more information can be obtained from the Spanish Ministry of Education in Madrid.

The cost of living in Seville is more expensive than living outside of the main cities but also cheaper than living on the Costa del Sol where prices tend to be inflated by the tourism traffic that passes through the main resorts of the region.  For those looking for rental accommodation prices will vary massively depending on the location you prefer to live in and whether you wish to flat share for example.  Costs can be between EUR 300 and EUR 700 a month.  The price of property in Spain is generally high and Seville is no exception!  Therefore it’s wise to spend time in the city getting to know your own personal favourite regions before committing to a property purchase.

In terms of the social side of life in Seville the city’s residents are truly spoilt!  From pubs, wine bars, restaurants, cafes, theatres, cinemas, clubs and shops there is such an abundance of things to do that living in Spain in Seville one will never grow bored!
