Summary: What is Japanese life like?
Day to Day Living in Japan
What is Japanese life like?
There is no such thing as a definitive guide to living in Japan as Japan and the experience it offers everyone is unique! But here are a few thoughts…
If you are moving to Japan to work, you may find your working life in Japan to be very different to what you have experienced before!
If you have to commute you may find you risk your life in the rush hour each morning as you cram yourself into an over stuffed train where sometimes the windows have been known to break from the pressure of squashed bodies inside! If you can avoid the 7.30am - 8.30am main rush you will survive!
The working hours in Japan are long with each office worker seemingly trying to out do the next with how many hours he can stand to stay at work! That said, the Japanese know how to play hard as well!
Socially the Japanese are a very friendly and hospitable nation and your life in Japan will be filled with invitations to meet friends and spend time socially with them.
Life in Japan may seem like a challenge initially...the people, the language, the culture may be so far from what you are used to. But give the Japanese people a chance they are polite, kind and honest though sometimes they come across a little awkwardly through their shyness.
The humidity in Japan is very high and care has to be taken to ventilate your living accommodation, and air clothes and bedding - otherwise you may attract mould, mildew and other friendly things!
