How to have a quality life in Belize.

Living in BelizeHow to have a quality life in Belize

If you are serious about making a new life abroad and living in Belize is the realisation of your dream, this short guide will give you an insight into life in Belize.

If you wish to transport your personal effects to Belize with you, you are allowed to import your goods tax and duty free - provided the items are ‘used’ and for personal rather than business use.

You have to have the relevant documentation with you to prove that you are now a legal resident of Belize in order to import your goods without duty being applied, but this process is fairly easy to follow.

The quality of life you can have in Belize depends a little on the quality of life you would like to achieve!

If you want reliable electricity, clean water, decent telecommunication links, all your favourite TV channels (well some!), all your favourite foods from back home (well some!)...and you are willing to pay for these services, then they are generally available to you - especially if you live in one of the main towns.  You can also drive to Mexico and the US from Belize and it has its own international airport.

If on the other hand you want a rural retreat and you want to be absorbed into the Belizean way of life then you can easily achieve this and live peacefully and privately away from big brother and away from some of the more negative trappings of modern first world life.

Living in Belize, you can have it pretty much any which way you want.

And if you want to try surviving in the wilds of Belize, Shelter Offshore can recommend the following book!

Do you wonder how you would manage if you were lost in the Jungle and had to set up an improvised camp? Can you tie knots or make basic weather forecasts? All the above and much more are covered in the SAS Survival Guide.

The book is based on the training techniques of the Special Air Service, the world’s most famous elite fighting force.  Good luck!
