Finding International Schools in Nicosia in CyprusIf you’re moving to live in Nicosia in Cyprus and you have school age children it’s probably going to be a priority for you to find an international school in or near to the location in which you’re going to be living unless your children speak fluent Greek.

Well, the good news is that finding an international school in Nicosia in Cyprus is not difficult; there are many excellent institutions available and in this article we examine the different schools and approaches that they take to education.

There are around nine very good international school options for parents of children in Nicosia.  You have Highgate School which offers nursery, primary and secondary schooling through the medium of English and which follows the British influenced international GCSE and A level curricula.

Highgate is located in a quiet and green area of the city and children are taught in a purpose built facility.  The philosophies of Highgate School are to teach children living in Cyprus how to learn, to achieve their full potential and to enjoy their successes and happiness and the school’s website address is http://www.highgateprimary.com.cy

The American Academy in Nicosia’s website address is http://www.highgateprimary.com.cy and this school is a coeducational facility also offering schooling through the medium of English for children from nursery age right through to the age of 18.  This time the school follows the US influenced international curriculum.

The American International School - http://www.aisc.ac.cy/ follows the same curriculum and teaches all grades from kindergarten through to high school graduation.

Falcon School - http://www.falconschool.ac.cy/ - places specific focus on the teaching of languages, sciences, the arts including music and it also offers a wide range of sports to students from the age of 4 to 18.  The language of instruction is again English and most students follow a British influenced international curriculum but parents of students who wish to attend American colleges or universities in the future can elect to have their children trained for the US Scholastic Aptitude Test and the Advanced Placement Test.

Pascal English School - http://www.pascal.com.cy – this is an institution often favoured by Cypriot parents who wish to have their children educated through the medium of English.  There are Pascal institutions across Cyprus and generally speaking children will follow a British inspired international curriculum.

The English School - http://www.englishschool.ac.cy/ - this school has a long history in Nicosia in Cyprus as it was established back in 1900.  The majority of its students who reach A level standard go on to university so it is highly regarded among international and local parents in Cyprus alike.  There are entrance exams for all students and the range of subjects taught and extra curricula studies and activities available to all students means that this is a very popular secondary school.

The G C School of Careers - http://www.gcsc.ac.cy/ - was originally a sixth form college but now it is a full secondary school offering a broad English curriculum.  There is specialist training available to students in their final exam years so that they can get the training they need towards their preferred career direction.

New Hope Schools - http://www.newhope.com.cy/ - these are Nicosia based schools for children with different levels and types of learning disability.

And finally, The Grammar School and The Junior School - http://www.grammarschool.ac.cy/ these are located on a purpose built campus in Nicosia and the curriculum followed is again a British inspired international curriculum with the majority of graduating students going on to universities in the UK.

As you can see, finding an international school in Nicosia in Cyprus is not the problem, choosing which institution is best is actually the difficult choice for parents as all schools are accredited with local and international boards of education, all achieve high academic standards and all are similarly priced in terms of tuition fees.
