Summary: For entry into Dubai and the UAE visitor visas are a requirement for most but they are easy to obtain and renew.
Dubai offers tourists and expatriates alike a unique and diversely intriguing quality of life. It attracts thousands of visitors every year who come to sample the vast array of activities and opportunities that the Emirate is famous for and to sample the unique Arabian experience.
For entry into Dubai and the UAE visitor visas are a requirement for most but they are easy to obtain and renew.
For year round sunshine, pristine white sands, the mysterious back drop of the desert, the crystal clear blue seas of the Gulf and guaranteed five star luxurious living Dubai is the ultimate travel and living destination and a Dubai visa, once secured, will be your passport to all this and much, much more.
A city free from crime where travelers are welcome, a city of attractions and opportunities as diverse and cosmopolitan as the entire Dubai experience, a city where east and west, young and old, modern and historical timelessness blend and effortlessly combine to charm the many visitors.
If you’re thinking of living in Dubai or even visiting this fascinating corner of the United Arab Emirates and you want to know what to expect, expect a world of opportunity! As a visitor to Dubai you can take a variety of tours and excursions from specialist interest tours into the desert to luxury excursions over the city in a helicopter. If you want to shop then you can take advantage of Dubai’s tax free status and the fact that it is one of the world’s leading gold and jewelry trading centers. And then for the typical Arabian experience try moonlight desert picnics, desert safaris, dhow cruises, souk exploration or camel racing!
Visitors to the city of Dubai require a visa unless they are from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman or Saudi Arabia. If you’re visiting the city and intend to stay in a hotel, the hotel will provide you with your visa for the duration of your stay. You just give your travel agent or the hotel a copy of your passport (fax it over) and they fill in all the necessary paper work and fax you a copy of the visa which you will need to board your flight to the UAE. You get the original Dubai visa from the visa desk when you arrive at the airport.
Depending on how long you intend to stay in the city there are two types of tourist visa available. You can have a 14 day transit visa or a 30 day visit visa. If you’re a resident of the UK or various other countries worldwide you can simply pick up your visa on arrival in Dubai but a) check on your eligibility before you go and b) it might save hassle and time if you apply before you go anyway.
For those considering a new life in Dubai you can start off with your 30 day visit visa but you will then have to obtain an employment visa which your employer will sponsor for you. If you are a married man and you would like to then sponsor your wife and children to reside with you in Dubai you have to be earning Dhs 4,000 a month without accommodation benefits included or Dhs 3,000 a month if your accommodation is included. Unfortunately married women who are granted employment visas cannot generally sponsor their husbands residence visa...notable exceptions are women doctors, nurses and teachers.
Depending on why you want to travel to Dubai and the UAE - whether for a holiday or the lifestyle and employment opportunities - your hotel, employer, friend or relative in the city will find it a simple enough process to apply for and secure your necessary Dubai visa for your entry into Dubai and the UAE.
