Owen Kiernan Rooney is a 24-year-old Australian expatriate who has gone missing in Canada: we are supporting his family and the police as they work hard to find him and bring him home. You can help us by getting involved in spreading the message about this young man’s disappearance.
Owen was working and travelling around Canada with his sisters Bree and Kelly Rooney when he went missing on August the 14th. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since, he hasn’t even accessed his credit cards, his bank accounts or his internet accounts such as his Facebook page.
Owen Rooney was assaulted prior to his disappearance and admitted himself to hospital on the 13th of August – however on the 14th of August he walked out of Grand Forks hospital in British Columbia, leaving without his belongings, and he has not been seen or heard from since. Concern for this young man is currently running very high – and we are urging all our readers, no matter where they are in the world, to get involved in the search for Owen.
Owen, Kelly, Bree and Sean Rooney are close siblings from a loving and close-knit family. When Owen went missing his parents flew to Canada from Australia, and his Sean brother remained in Australia to help get the message about missing Owen out there, together the family are doing everything they can to raise the profile of this missing person story.
Kelly contacted us at Shelter Offshore and asked us to get involved – and we are doing that in the best way we know how. I.e., by releasing this story and asking all of our excellent loyal readers to get involved with the search for Owen Kiernan Rooney…
Could it be that Owen lost his memory or his direction after the assault that left him hospitalised? Could he be wandering around Canada, sleeping rough? Has he lost his way – is he travelling under an assumed name?
The details you need to know about the story so that you can pass them on to everyone you know, post them on your own websites, blogs and social networking pages are as follows: -
Owen Kiernan Rooney is 24 years old. He is an Australian citizen. He is 175cm tall (that’s 5 foot 9 inches), he weighs about 73 kg (which is 161 pounds or 11 stone 7 pounds). He has brown hair and two distinctive tattoos - one is on his shoulder, it’s about 3 inches across and is a circle shaped Celtic star. The other on his calve is a triangle with a kangaroo on it.
The background to Owen’s disappearance could possibly suggest this young man is disorientated and lost and that you can help find him and bring him home to his loving family.
It is known that Owen attended the Shambalah Music Festival which took place between the 6th and the 9th of August 2010 and which is located on the Salmo River Ranch in Salmo, British Columbia in Canada. He was was making his way back to Kelowna where he had been living for the summer and where he was working.
It’s known that he got a lift from Castlegar to Christina Lake but it is still not known who the lift was with – anyone who has any information or who saw Owen is asked to please come forward, you may know something of great importance without even realising it.
Owen was assaulted in Christina Lake and he admitted himself to Grand Forks Hospital in British Columbia as a result on the 13th of August. Owen stayed in hospital overnight but left the hospital next evening - he left without taking his belongings, he did not return and he has not been seen since.
His family are working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to find Owen and so far they are still trying to piece together what occurred during the time before Owen disappeared – and they have discovered absolutely nothing about what happened to Owen after he left the hospital. Can you help?
As mentioned, Owen has not accessed his credit cards, bank accounts or internet accounts including his Facebook.
It is NOT NORMAL for Owen to be out of contact with his family for so long and so of course everyone is extremely worried for Owen. It could be that he no longer knows who he is as a result of the assault for example – and so please, please, take a look at his picture, post it on your website or your blog, tell all your friends and fellow expats about Owen and help us all to find him and bring him safely home to his loving family.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Owen Kiernan Rooney are asked to contact the Grand Forks RCMP on 250-442-8288, their local police services or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 - alternatively you can contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Police via their website.
