We’ve Gone to Spain

We’ve Gone to SpainThis is the updated version of Tom Provan’s excellent book ‘Gone to Spain: You Too Can Realise Your Dream of a Better Lifestyle’ which was published back in 2004.  Since then so much has changed in Spain and so many details of the book required a little updating that the author felt it wise to totally rewrite his experiences of leaving life in the UK behind for a fantastic new life in Spain.

‘We’ve Gone to Spain’ is a truly readable book – it isn’t packed full of dull facts and figures, rather it is an honest and at times very amusing account of leaving the UK behind and starting a brand new life, for better or for worse, in Spain.  If you’re thinking of making a similar move, get this book!

‘We’ve Gone to Spain’ isn’t a reference book and it isn’t an autobiographical account of simply upping sticks and relocating – it manages to combine the best of both with the feel of a novel added to the mix which makes it readable, fun, practical and inspiring.  We really rate this book and recommend it to anyone thinking about a huge change of lifestyle and a move to the Spanish mainland.

The book begins by explaining how the decision to relocate was actually made – some of the practical reasons behind the move as well as the emotional ones and the dream that a life in Spain embodied for the protagonists.  It’s highly likely that most readers will relate to at least some of the reasons behind the decision to leave the UK and even more will share the dreams of what a new life in Spain will be like.

The author moves through all of the practical aspects of relocation, he talks about actually researching and choosing a location and a home, whether to rent or buy and Tom Provan even includes some Spanish property case studies to give readers an example of what can be bought and how the process can and should work.  All legal aspects of the relocation and property processes are covered in sufficient depth to be helpful before the author moves on to what is quite possibly the best part of ‘We’ve Gone to Spain’ – detailing settling in and the lifestyle.

Information about what it is really like to move, settle in and begin a new life in Spain is hard to come by in print form…and yet let’s face it, it’s the information we most crave because we want to know whether our dreams of a new life can actually be realised and whether or not the lifestyle on offer is all we crave.  Thank God for Tom Provan because he paints it how it really is, warts and all - and he helps us to remove any rose coloured glasses we may be wearing and get to grips with what life will really be like if we decide to bite the bullet and relocate.

The author proves that there is so much to celebrate having made the move to Spain – no doubt this book will inspire many more people to follow in his footsteps – but responsibly, Tom Provan also highlights some of the negative aspects and does make sure his readers are brought back down to earth and have their feet on the ground with the information he provides so that they are appraised of what the move and new life can and will really be like so that they are that much more likely to succeed with their relocation and in settling into their new life abroad.
