Goodhealth Worldwide Renamed But Still Supporting Expatriate Healthcare AbroadOne of the leading international insurers of healthcare services for expatriates living and working abroad is Goodhealth Worldwide – but they’ve been bought up, renamed, rebranded and turned into Aetna Global Benefits.  Now, whilst we fear the new name is a bit of a mouthful and unlike Goodhealth Worldwide it hardly does what it says on the tin, the good news is that under the Aetna brand, expats will still be able to get exceptional levels of healthcare and insurance.

Aetna is a US based company and with their purchase of the Goodhealth Worldwide brand they have effectively expanded their reach in terms of the services they can offer.  Those already insured by Goodhealth have nothing to fear from the take over and rebrand, and those looking for international healthcare cover could do well to take a closer look at this player in the marketplace.

Whilst the likes of AXA PPP and Bupa have an incredibly strong presence in terms of international health insurance, they are not the be all and end all when it comes to health insurance providers for expatriates and those who lead a particularly international and flexible lifestyle.  We always advise our readers to shop around, and with Aetna’s take over of Goodhealth, we think now could be a good time to review the company’s services.

Is Private Health Insurance Cheaper Than New Spanish Contributions? If you’re an expatriate living in Spain you’ll be very well aware of the most recent changes to the healthcare system.  Basically, expatriates who were living in Valencia but not contributing to the Spanish social system through employment based contributions or via voluntary contributions, but who were under retirement age and not on benefit are now required to contribute €90 a month in order to remain within the state healthcare scheme.

However, is private health insurance actually cheaper than these new Spanish contributions?  In many cases the answer is a resounding ‘yes’ – and not only that, in many cases you could be better off with private medical insurance in place.  However, the thought of getting health insurance is a bit daunting for many who have already moved abroad – and so for some it is just easier to pay this €270 quarterly bill…

If you’re affected, in this report we’ll show you how actually you could be wasting a lot of money unnecessarily by passively opting in to the Spanish system.  If you want your healthcare assured and you are already paying the €90, we’ll show you how you could potentially be getting better protection for your cash by going private.

What to Look for When Researching Health InsuranceWhen you move abroad one of the issues you may well come up against relatively early on is the fact that you’re likely to need health insurance cover.  In the UK we’re covered by the NHS, we can call on it as and when we need it as long as we’re legal residents of Great Britain and have been for 6 months or more.  However, every country in the world has different rules and few have the equivalent of the NHS.

If you’re fortunate enough to be moving in retirement to a country such as France that has a reciprocal agreement with the UK for free health care there are still issues and forms that you need to know about – and if you’re moving elsewhere or at a different stage in your life then you may very well discover that you need private health insurance.

As Brits, very few of us, our peers or our families have private health care cover, so in this report we’re going to show you what to look for when researching health insurance before you go and live abroad.  All providers offer different incentives to lure you in, but which are essentials and which are just worthless add-ons designed to make you sign up?
