...the sky is blue, there’s not a cloud to spoil the view. But in England it’s raining tra la la la la la laaaaa.
Yes, Andy and I have just been to Nicosia for the afternoon as it was so balmy and bright and beautiful that we felt we should make the most of it so we had a late lunch outside in the sunshine. It was so hot in the car that I wound the window down and sang all the way home!
It’s February for goodness sake and it is HOT! Today was the first day of summer...like that day you get in England in July and in Germany in June. That day when you’re so happy and excited because you know summer has finally arrived and everyone just wanders round in a state of glee smiling and being lovely to everyone. Yeah, well, seemingly we get that day in February!
Personally I think everyone should move to Cyprus. It is obviously the best place in the world to live!
Sure, the rains haven’t stopped yet, we’re due a few more days before they dry up until October, and when a breeze blows it still has a cold edge, but the weather has definitely turned!
We got back and rang home where we were told that they had had snow yesterday, drizzle today, the entire family had colds and it was dark already - at 3pm!
This just makes me totally convinced that coming here was the right thing to do! Come to North Cyprus, it’s sunny! In February! And hot! In February. And all the blossom is on the trees and the birds are frolicking about and tweeting madly and I just have the urge to skip everywhere and kiss people!
We drove out past turtle beach yesterday to walk up into the mountains and see if we could find some of the wild flowers and orchids TRNC is famous for. We weren’t disappointed! Once you get up high where no one else can be bothered to go (!) there are acres and acres of flowers in amongst the olive trees. We came across a carpet of anemones - pink, purple, white and red! So many flowers, it looked surreal! If you’d planted that densely in your garden people would laugh at you and tell you you’d over done it.
I’d always heard that Cyprus was a sight to behold in springtime and so far I have not been disappointed. The only thing I’m actually worried about is that in about 6 weeks time I’ll be here writing about being too hot!
Just think, one more month and I’ll be snorkelling, sunbathing and swimming all day long! Just makes you sick doesn’t it!
Look, stop complaining, come and live in North Cyprus too. You’re assured of a warm welcome, the cost of living is shockingly low, there are enough dogs on the island for everyone to have at least a couple, and who cares about any of that - it’s hot and SUNNY!!!!!!!! In FEBRUARY!
