Packs of Cats

Andy and I went for a wander down by the new harbour in Girne today to have a look see and see what we could see, see, see.

We’d been out in the car yesterday and I’d spotted some very tall masts and we decided to go for a closer look...who says my life is dull?!

As the traffic is more chaotic than normal round town at the moment - thanks to the wet weather and the main street being knee deep in mud maybe! - we decided to wander across town via back streets to avoid the crazy cars.  We actually came across a quicker way to get to Efendi’s in the process, which was nice!

Anyway, we meandered in and around old streets and new builds and up and down pretty streets and busy streets and came across another British cemetery - how many are there? - until we came to a sort of side on approach to the new harbour.

The quick route to the gates was across a muddy bit of waste land - otherwise it was a bit of a trek around the main road - so we slid and slipped and squished across the muddy waste land bit - and all of a sudden we were faced with a pack of cats!

At the end of the waste ground there was a load of stinky skips and prowling round guarding the territory, were all these very rough, well ‘ard looking moggies.

They were sort of swaggering about like fat security guards and yowling at us to back off!  I never knew cats hunted in packs!  Maybe it’s only the bin-scavenger breed?  Half of them had eyes missing, the other half had big chunks of fur missing and you could tell they weren’t afraid of a fight.  I guess they thought we looked hungry and were after a feed?

So we stood and contemplated our situation for a bit, 2 of us, about 20 of them...they have claws, we don’t...they look well ‘ard...we’re NOT!  So we decided that we respected the territorial rights of the cat pack...and we went along the main road to the harbour instead!
