New Cyprus Forum

Now, there have been many things written and many more things said about divided Cyprus, the Cyprus problem, the 1974 conflict and even who was to blame and how now to move forward after the ‘failure’ of the Annan Plan to resolve the situation here...but so far most discussions have been rather one sided with either a Turkish Cypriot or a Greek Cypriot voicing their opinions...or even a well meaning expat trying to build bridges and alienating all communities!

Now, thanks wholly to a friend of ours who is a very forward thinking, balanced and fair person there is a brand new multi-communal forum all about Cyprus available on the internet for everyone to go and learn more about the divided island, to discuss their hopes, fears and feelings and to meet up with people from all over the world and both sides of the green line.

Talk Cyprus has been launched by Erol Ziya - remember him?  He’s the guy I mentioned in an earlier posting who saved us from pitfalls of internet hell here in North Cyprus!  He’s a Bentley Walker man just like us and someone who is wholly committed to justice being done on all levels...even justice in the form of everyone in the world having free internet access at all times - which is another of his causes and one in which I hope he will triumph eventually.

Anyway, yes, what was I saying?

Oh yeah, right...Talk Cyprus is not ‘just’ a forum where people can hop on and have a rant about how they feel about Cyprus it is also a community where you can make friends, help each other out, get advice and information all about North Cyprus and all about South Cyprus.  There are some right funny characters who’ve joined up already.  Some are very well informed, some are just funny and others write stuff that has more to do with irrational indoctrination than informed opinion!  But never fear, erolz is a fantastic moderator and seeks to keep everything calm and open without quashing passionate outbursts or enforcing his own views too heavily.

This new Cyprus forum is a great place to learn more about the whole of Cyprus, find out about the politics here and have your say on how things should progress and be resolved...it is also a community where you can catch up on the gossip, chat about your least favourite football team and even swap recipes and film reviews and tips.
