Just found two must see, mad retro sites! http://www.its-a-knockout.co.uk/ is all about It’s a Knockout, that totally insane, silly, silly, slap stick 1970’s TV show where nutters competed in relay races dressed as penguins and the like!
The other one - http://www.skooldays.com/ is everything from your school days - from the TV of the day, the cheesy music you were into and best of all...the fashion!!!!!!
Oh me oh my yes, rara skirts and leg warmers, jumpsuits and shell suits...take me back! I am WELL excited by my finds!
Skool Days is the best of the two sites as far as I’m concerned because it has some brilliant people contributing on the forum as well as top content, you can spend hours wandering round the site reminding yourself just how SAD you were back then - I’m talking 80’s for me but the site goes from the 1900’s to the 1990’s so there is plenty for even the oldest of old gits out there!
The site is just beautiful as well, so well designed...worth a look, particularly on your employer’s time! Lots of retro styling and then the Skooldays Nostalgic Forum is also chock full of tasty choice images of all those little reminders. You can also use the site a bit like Friends Reunited in that you can hunt down old friends and enemies - but it offers SO much more and it really is a heck of a lot of fun.

It’s A Knockout is designed along the same lines, really excellent cheesy images and I think the guy who built the site might be slightly mad because he even has the rules of the game and features the international version of the competition which was apparently called Jeux Sans Frontieres? He even features the revival of It’s a Knockout that came out in 1999. I dunno, personally I like to reminded of all those tragic 1970’s fashions and haircuts...the 1999 version was never as good.

Also It’s A Knockout should actually force the TV planners to re-run the original episodes...never before was a generation so spectacularly unselfconscious as they were in the 1970’s, never before have so many people been so happy to be so stupid and all in the name of really great entertainment.
I LOVE these two sites, I think you should waste a good half day on each - then email the links to all your friends...after all, sites like these were designed to be enjoyed - and when better to enjoy them when skiving work like you used to skive off skool...or was that just me...ahem!
