How to Make a Living in Paradise

We have been lucky enough to receive a review copy of an exceptionally well researched, written and put together book all about going to live, work and make a strong living abroad specifically in Southeast Asia.  We’re happy to review it, because the information it contains is incredibly valuable and hard to come by in any other form for any would-be expat thinking of moving to this part of the world.

The book is called ‘How to Make a Living in Paradise’ with ‘paradise’ referring to a country of your choice of course, but where the author Philip Wylie states that: “it is assumed that the economy in your paradise is weak compared to your home country, which means that your home currency will buy you much more.”  As stated, this edition of the book is for expatriates moving to Southeast Asia in particular, and as a result there is very specific detail on counties and locations such as Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Because this is an independently researched, written and published book it has not been restricted by the style of some living abroad publications, nor has the author felt compelled to write content to appeal to a preconceived idea of their potential reader.  As a result I found the book to flow coherently and intelligently, and that the information contained therein really is incredibly valuable as it has not only been written by someone who has ‘been there and done that’ already, but someone who is very knowledgeable about the local landscape for expats.
